Discovery of Zaplandia
The island was discovered by the famous British explorer, Captian Jack Zapland. He was sailing aboard the ship called Aprilshower in the opposite direction of its sister ship, the better-known Mayflower. He took a route around the Cape of Good Hope, through the Indian Ocean and along the Asian coast. He was lost in the Pacific Ocean and discovered the island on this famous day. -

First Uprising of the Native Oompaloompas
Although they were peaceful and initially welcoming to Captain Jack and the other English settlers, the Native Oompaloompas, became angry because of Captain Jack and his followers killed many sacred rabbits when they were cutting down trees in the sacred forest for lumber. This war ended with most of the Oompaloomas being driven across the mountian range to the eastern half of the island. The colony of Zaplandia was established in the western half of the island. -
Founding of Cocoaville
The people of Zaplandia got together and formed a town that soon became a large city. They called it Cocoaville because of the import of Hot Cocoa, the favorite drink in Zaplandia. -
Founding of Marshmallownia
Groups of settlers set out to explore the island and found the Marshmallow Pennisula. They established the town of Marshmallownia there which started trading with Cocoaville. -
Independence Declaration from England
England was taxing Zaplandia heavily for their delicious Hot Cocoa. Hot Cocoa was the favorite drink of all Zaplandians due to the many rainy, cold days. They didn't want to pay such high taxes for their Hot Cocoa. They just imported it from their friendly neighbors in Canada. Tired from fighting wars with the US and many other British colonies that wanted independence, England just gave up on Zaplandia without a fight. -
Second Uprising of the Oompaloompas
The Oompaloompas had been slowly creating their own empire on the Eastern half of the island. They built boats and sailed to Canada (18 miles way) to get weapons to prepare for war. They attacked the costal town of Marshmallownia. This was known as the Marshmallow Massacre. The Oompaloompas stole marshmallows and hot cocoa and broke everyone's favorite mugs. The Oompaloomas returned to their village and Marshmalllownia was well defended after this tragedy. -
Treaty of Mustache Cape
The Zaplandians wanted to make peace with the Oompaloompas so that they could trade with them. The Zaplandians had marshmallows and hot cocoa, but they did not have mugs to drink it from. The only mug factory on the island was in Oompaloompa territory. The Oompaloompas had become famous for their pottery. They made a treaty that said Oompaloomas could have Hot Cocoa and Marshmallows and would not be disturbed in their village if they were willing to trade their mugs. The Oompaloomas agreed. -
Gold discovered in the Thorny Mountain Range
Gold was found in the southern half of the thorny mountain range and thousands of people went hunting for gold. The town of Whoverton was established in the Great Valley as a result of the Gold Rush. Not much gold was actually found, and most people left, but Whoverton is still a popular tourist destination. -
Oil Discovered off the northwestern Coast
Exxon mobile company discovered an important oil deposit and began off-shore drilling. This had brought great wealth to the island of Zaplandia. So far there have been no major oil spills.
