    Most controversial event since the civil war. Case about a slave living with his owner in a free state and then returning to missouri which was still a slave state. He wanted to still remain free even though he went to a slave state after leaving a free state. They had a court case to decide if he should be a slave or remain free.

    On this day John wilkes booth assassinated Abraham Lincoln at the Ford Theater. The assassination was just days after General Robert E. Lee surrendered his confederate army.

    Established a system of benefits for old age benefits for workers, benefits for victims of industrial accidents, umemployment benefits and benefits for the handicap or dependent mothers.

    Brown v. board of education of Topeka ks. was about the segregation of white and black children in school. It became a court case where black where fighting for the right to have the same privligages and recieve the same school supplies and quality education as white children where recieving. The black schools where getting all of the whites old desk, books, and materials and that wasnt fair. So they created brown v. board of education to integrate the schools.

    President Reagan was asked to give a speech about the Berlin wall. His speech said that if the gate is still closed then their is not freedom for the country if the wall still stands then their is not freedom for all mankind. At the end of the speech he tells them to open the gate and to tear down the wall. That is where the Regans "Tear down this wall" speech came from.

    The senate voted on whether or not to remove clinton from office. The impeachment came from an alleged sex scandal that Clinton had. Clinton appologized multiple times for misleading people and to the American people for not leading like he should.

    19 military people associated with al-qaeda hijacked four commercial airlines. They then carried out suicide attacks on the United States. They flew the planes into the twin tower in New York killing hunderds. This is known as the September 11 terrorist attacks.
