This Corollary was tied to the Monroe Doctrine in that the U.S. would stay put of foreign affairs for its own safety and for the safety of other people. It also stated that the Western Hemisphere would not be open to colonization from Europe. -

Margret Sanger was a woman in favor of women's rights who fought for their right to control when they would conceive by providing a way for them to prevent pregnancy. She was the founder of Planned Parenthood. -
Scopes-Monkey Trial
This is a trial held in court against a Christian science teacher over how religious teachings should not be forced onto students to believe and that Evolution should be a taught subject. This was a time where Evolution was beginning to arise as a scientific fact. Scopes won the trial but the people who took him to trial had accomplished what they wanted in that people would start to question the authenticity of Christianity. -
Herbert Hoover Elected
Hoover was elected when the stock market crashes and the Great Depression begins. The people wanted someone to blame other than themselves for the crash so they blame him and the towns that were stricken poor they named 'Hoovervilles'. -
Stock Market Crashes and The Great Depression Begins
People had invested money into businesses that thrives in the roaring 20's after the war. When these businesses failed people lost money. Well everyone did this so everyone lost money and the whole country lost millions. This left people in a Great Depression due to the lack of money to buy necessities. -
FDR Elected
His election was very successful, he was elected 4 times. He led us through the Great Depression and many other things. He proposed the New Deal that redefined the lives of Americans and society for the better. He gave his famous line, "The only thing we have to fear is fear itself." -
FDR begins "Fireside Chats"
In order to help people through the great depression FDR needed to know their concerns, needs, and feelings. So he hosted a radio talk that would discuss the issues and how they were to be dealt with. This also helped to calm the people letting them know that things were going to be worked out in time. -
Eleanor Roosevelt Becomes First Lady
This woman changed the role of the first lady rather than just standing back wit ha smile she took part in political debates and stood her husbands ground while he was away as a Rough Rider. -
Rosie the Riveter's image first used
Rosie the Riveter was a woman who wouldn't back down to society's conceptions of what women were meant to be. An image of her flexing her muscles and being tough was made and published to prove her point. -
Cold War Begins
This was a war fought between the Soviet Union and the United States over the issue of communism and how the Soviet Union tried to force people into that form of government. -
Brown v. Board
This was a court case that ruled out the "separate but equal" mindset based on the 14th amendment. -
Montgomery Bus Boycott Ends
This time period was the time when segregation was the worst when it came to blacks not being equal. This came to an end in order to end the unnecessary violence against blacks. -
Vietnam Draft Begins
This was when young eligible men volunteered to fight in the War for our country to better the odds against Vietnam. The average age was 19 and most of the volunteers did this to provide for their families who would receive aid from the government. -
JFK Elected
He was elected after his 2 brothers were killed while trying and 1 was involved in a sketchy accident when his mistress died in a car crash. -
JFK assassinated
He was killed in Texas by a man named Lee Oswald. Lee supposedly shot Kennedy three times from the sixth floor of a Textbook Factory. -
"The Feminine Mystique" was published
This was a book written by Betty Friedan about woman questioning their current roles in society to pursue wants outside that placed role. -
Bull Connor uses fire hoses
Bull Connor was a Chief of Police who used excessive force on blacks who were peacefully protesting segregation and posing no harm to anyone. -
Civil Rights Act on 1964
This was a law passed that discrimination of blacks, religion, Jews, gender, color, etc.. was banned from the workplace. -
Griswold v. CT
This was a court case over the right to privacy if the government has control over what a woman does with her body regarding birth control and abortion. -
Malcom X is killed
Malcolm X was a black Civil Rights leader particularity the portion that were Muslim. Ironically he was assassinated by Islamists. -
NOW formed
NOW is a national woman's organization dedicated to the help of women in need financially or who want an open spot in society for a job. -
Richard Nixon Elected
Nixon got the position because his opponent was killed, which left he political house in chaos. His presidency was full of issues and avoidable choices that he made on purpose. -
MLK killed
MLK was killed in Memphis die to his leadership against segregation. -
Woodstock
This was a big arts festival started by a group of guys and in order to get people to show up they make up stories of who's playing there. Thousands of people show up and it becomes a big event. -
Nixon's Revised Philly Plan is implimented
This was when a company in Philly was made to hire minority workers including women to work for pay. -
Kent State Shootings
This happened as a result of a protest against the Vietnam war. To control the crowd Nixon sent troops to try to break up the crowd, but rather than just use authority to break it up they start shooting aimlessly into the crowd of students. 4 were killed and 9 were left injured only to be coldly regarded as "dumb students" by Nixon. -
Title IX Passes
A lot of the time in the work place following the women's rights movement women were made fun of. So this title prohibited that especially in the sports department, thus, empowering women to keep moving forward. -
ERA sent to the states to be ratified
This was and Equal Rights Amendment passed for there to be equality among genders, races, sexual orientation, and skin color. Mainly to decrease discrimination and make more spots open for people of these categories to make something of themselves. -
Roe v. Wade
This was a court case over the legalization limitations to women's access to abortion. -
Nixon Resignes
Nixon's presidency had issues with the beginning, but the last issue that ended his presidency was Watergate. During his campaign, he authorized a breaking to the Watergate office to be bugged. People found out that this happened and it went back to him. He refused to hand over the tapes from Watergate because they contained evidence of his crime. -
Ronald Reagan Elected
He rides a new political movement called the New Right which fights in favor of morality and Christian Evangelical teaching. He also helps end the Cold War. -
O'Connor becomes first woman to the Supreme Court
She was elected by Ronald Regan to the Supreme Court and was the first woman to do so. -
Geraldine Ferraro runs for VP
She was the first woman to be recommended the position of VP and the first woman to run for VP. -
Cold War Ends
Ronald Regan made a bluff that he could shoot enemy missals down from space with lasers. The president of the Soviet Union meets with him to try and convince him to get rid of the lasers. The pres of the Soviets was willing to change how he ran things to achieve peace and thanks to that willingness the Cold War ended. -
Bill Clinton Elected
He appealed to young voters by using T.V. to his advantage and was the first president to use that appliance to his advantage. -
Clinton Impeached
Clinton was a womanizer who had an affair with Monica Lewinsky. She, along with other woman, spoke out against Clinton with sexual assault and it eventually became the end of his presidency. -
World Trade Center Collapses
This was a tragic act of terrorism in the United States. It wasn't the first act but it was one of the first major ones. Muslim terrorists hijacked a plane and few it into the World Trade Center killing hundreds and striking fear into the hearts of Americans. -
Barack Obama Elected
He was the first African-American President. He changes everything of how the government is ran and promises to end the Vietnam war but the casualties boost within his first two years in office -
Hillary Clinton Runs for President
Hillary tries to run for president against Donald Trump and was the first woman to do so.
