    This war lasted about 6 years. After this Kublai Khan finally defeated the Song Dynasty and "puts his own regime in place called the Yuan."

    Kublai make's the capital Beijing for what would soon be the Yuan Dynasty.

    The Khan's were all originally Mongolian's and not Chinese so this alienated him further from them.

    This dynasty coexisted with the Southern Song Dynasty.

    The Yuan empire was the first to use "paper currency as the" main form of circulating money.

    Kublai sends 800 to 900 ships to take over Japan.

    This was the first attempt by Kublai to take over Japan and a storm destroyed over hundreds of the ships.

    The people of the Yuan Dynasty defeat the Southern Song.

    They defeat the Southern Song through a naval battle. The Song dynasty effectively collapsed. Kublai Khan is named Emperor Shizu.

    Shizu attempts a second time to conquer Japan but fails.

    He assembled a fleet of ships a little too quickly which included 4,400 ships and 100,000 men. A typhoon destroyed most of the ships.

    Emperor Shizu/Kublai Khan dies without a male heir.

    His nephew Kulag would take over but this was the beginning of the end.

    Kulag Khan's reign ends but the problematic empire remains.

    Paper currency value decreased by 80% during the reign of Kulag. The Mongol rulers printed too much paper leading to more devaluation.

    Ayurbawada Buyantu is named the next Khan.

    These next emperors have a vague history and were part of the downfall of the Yuan Dynasty/Mongol Empire.

    A new emperor named Huziong is selected.

    This was the last emperor of the Yuan Dynasty/Mongol Empire.

    A massive flood strikes and made an important area poverish.

    This flood would cause a rebellion later on.

    The Red Turban Rebellion starts.

    This war would mark the downfall of the Yuan Empire. The "Red Turbans" thought that the flood was punishment for a bad government and rebelled.

    A leader of the rebellion takes the Beijing (the capital) and gains control.

    A leader of the rebellion takes the Beijing (the capital) and gains control.
    This would mark the end of the war and the Yuan Dynasty. The Ming dynasty would follow.
