    The Beginning

    Yoga was fist reported as seen in the pre-vedic age. Mostly talked about in the form of literature.
  • Period: 500 BCE to 800

    Classical Period

    During this period of time Yoga has its biggest growth and advancement. The descriptions of Vysas and Yoga sutras came into existence during this period of time.
  • Period: 800 to

    Post Classical period

    The teachings of Suradasa, Tulasidasa, Purandardasa, and Mirabai were big contributions to this time period and to the growth of Hatha Yoga.
  • Period: to

    Modern Period

    During this period of yoga Vedanta, Bhakti yoga, Nathayoga or Hatha-yoga were developed more in depth and began to thrive. The main contributors to these specific practices are Vedanta, Bhakti yoga, Nathayoga or Hatha-yoga. Using these methods Hatha-Yoga began to thrive and grow roots.
  • Present Day

    Today many people practice yoga for many different reasons. Health, flexibility, relaxation and fun are just a few of the reasons. It can be preformed in many different ways and techniques. In my class we begin and end with meditation and relaxing the body before we go into the specific posses. Over many years Yoga has been developed and changed to what we know of today.
