  • Handing Power Over

    Yemen's longtime dictator Ali Abdullah Saleh agreed to hand power to his deputy, Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi. Hadi did was not leading effectively. Yemen began to suffer from unemployment, food insecurity and corruption.
  • Airstrikes against Houthi Rebels

    The coalition launched operation "Decisive Storm". Airstrikes against Houthi rebels to defend President Hadi. The goal was to defeat the rebels who have controlled the capital since September 2014.

  • Cholera Outbreak

    This outbreak has killed at least 2,150 civilians. The spread of cholera has been controlled, but the renewed fuel shortages mean clean water cannot be pumped from deep wells.

  • Food and Supply Blockage

    Saudi Arabia with the help of the United States positioned their warships in the Yemen waters. Fuel shipments to Yemen were blocked which caused farmers to abandon equipment like tractors and forcing hospitals to function without generators.
  • Worst Famine in 100 years

    The World Food Program told CNN that another 3.5 million people in the country could soon require food assistance if they do not get an large increase of aid.
