    Shanghai Massacre
    Nationalists (Kuomintang) forces led by Chiang Kai-shek attacked the Communists in Shanghai- executing 5000 of the 6000 captured; Communists fought for their country to become a communist country. Nationalist troops and armed gangs moved into Shanghai to kill trade union members and communist leaders. The nationalists were nearly wiped out by the communists.

    Lasted 9 yrs, 4 months, and 3 weeks; fought between the Kuomintang (Chinese nationalist party) and the Chinese Communist party because of their long-term internal rivalry. Chiang Kai-shek of the Kuomintang decided to get rid of the Communists-killing and arresting many of them.

    Agreement to outlaw war, signed in Paris. Was one of many international efforts to prevent another World War, but had little to no effect. The countries who signed were France, the United States, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, India, Belgium, Poland, Czechoslovakia, Germany, Italy and Japan. The authors of it were Frank B. Kellogg and French foreign minister Aristide Briand.

    Approved by the league of nations, stated that the United States would not recognize any agreements between the Japanese and Chinese that limited free commercial intercourse in the region. It was enacted after Japan's military seizure of Manchuria in 1931.

The purges didn't only affect people who opposed Stalin, but normal people as well. 20 million people were sent to labor camps, where nearly half of them died. Lasted roughly from October of 1936 to 1939
