Dawes Plan enacted
This plan was enacted to help with Germany's inflation problem and gain some stability back for the Wiemar Republic. Proposed by American, Charles Dawes, in this plan Ruhr would be returned to German control, reparations would be lowered for the first few years, and the national bank was restructured.
This event helped shortly stabilize Germany but also caused many countries to rely on the United States, their economies became interlocked with ours. -
The Great Depression begins
An economic long lasting downfall caused by the crash in the stock market. Banks closed, many were unemployed, people lost their jobs causing them to spend less, this caused more people to be fired and created a vicious cycle.
Such a tragedy affected the future greatly. Because of this time banks are now federally insured, and our economy has overall learned a lot about how to protect itself. -

Former monarch Alfonso XIII was exiled, though he did not abdicate. Elections were held and a republic was favored by the public, particularly in urban areas.
The end of the monarchy in Spain helped push the ideals of different governments, such as the republic. -

A leftist party composed of many smaller parties, including the communist and socialist parties, came into power through many legislative elections. The party ran as a type of democratic style of government.
A large world power like France helped spread ideals of democracy. The short lived failure of this party showed the world of democracy's drawbacks as well. -
Spanish Civil War begins
Many right wing military officials, led by General Francisco Franco, captured important cities and executed political opponents. This act was a rebellion of the newly formed republic.
The aid received by Italy and Nazi Germany for the rebels showed the ideals of fascism having power. It also showed conflicts of having a Republic style of government. -
