    European Discovery - America
    In 1492, Christopher Columbus discovered the ‘Americas’. A new nation was born and soon, people migrated from England to America starting new colonies shortly after Columbus’ discovery of the new land. The Tribal groups around those areas were identified as the First Nations.

    The Enlightenment was an event in European history during the late 17th to eighteenth century. It is a time when people started questioning their beliefs of the church and the king. People were given more and more power, while churches was somewhat being neglected by some.

    Invention of the Spinning Jenny
    During The Industrial age, the advances in manufacturing made it very convenient for many people who worked in manufacturing during that time. In 1767 the Intention of ‘The spinning jenny’ by James Hargreaves meant that one worker could operate several spools of cotton. This was one of the earliest example of mass production.

    Around 1770, Captain James Cook managed to discover Australia. When this occurred, the British Empire extended into the Southern Hemisphere. The First Fleet did not come to Australia until 1788. As English prisons became overcrowded, the British Empire declared Australia to be used as a prison. Free setters also migrated to Australia to create colonies

    During the industrial revolution, the invention of the steam engine was really symbol of this event. The Industrial revolution was the evolution of Europe from being an agriculture economy to one of the manufacturing items. This event lasted until the early 20th century.

    The First Fleet
    The First Fleet was a convict settlement, the start of a plan to transport thousands of prisoners to Australia. The first fleet of convicts arrived at Port Jackson in New South Wales. The fleet was led by Captain Arthur Phillip. This expedition lasted eight months, and used a route across the oceans that had only been used three times.

    The Movement of peoples started with the First Fleet which led on to the Federation of Australia. Many convicts who were shipped to Australia were sentenced to stay for 7 years. Many of the convicts could not afford a way back home; they were forced to stay here. Free settlers came to Australia and bought land, used to grow crops and livestock. They saw Australia as great opportunity.

    On January 1901, Australia was no longer a colony of the British Empire. The Federation of Australia has commenced. However, Australia remained and still is under the Commonwealth. Australia would now have its own laws, Prime Minister and have its own constitution. Six separate states were part of the Federation.

    The Assassination of Franz Ferdinand
    Archduke Franz Ferdinand, heir to the throne of the Austro-Hungarian Empire was assassinated by Serbian Gavrilo Princip, on the 28th of June 1914. Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie, Duchess of Hohenberg were travelling through the streets of Sarajevo when both were shot and killed by Gavrilo Princip, who was a member of the “Black Hand”. The assassination created friction between Serbia and Austro-Hungary. This event off coarse led to the Great War.

    Great Britain declares War on Germany
    As Great Britain declared war on Germany. Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Canada and Newfoundland were to join Great Britain. They had to join because they are all British colonies. Britain declared war on Germany because of an invasion in Belgium. They demanded Germany to get out of Belgium or they will declare war. Germany did not withdraw therefore, Britain delcared war.

    ANZAC Landing at ANZAC Cove
    In 1915, Australian and New Zealand forces were given an occupation to obtain the Gallipoli Peninsula from the Ottoman Empire. When they have finally arrived in Z beach (ANZAC Cove) the battle began as the Ottoman Attacked the Anzacs, trying to drive them back to sea. ANZAC forces fought at Gallipoli for 18 months. During that time, 46,000 Australian's were killed and over a 100,000 were wounded.
