  • Voulentary Migration

    Voulentary Migration is the title given to people who chose to come to Australia on the First Fleet. This is oftem confused with invoulentary migration which is completely different.
    Many of the people who came to Australia by choice cam here seeking wealth and a new opportunity, to get away from their lives in England which for most people were terrible, although some people came here to get away from Debt, mot of these were voulantary migrants
  • Invoulentary Migration

    Invoulentary Migration is similar to voulentary but it is also very different. Invoulentary Migration is when a convict, which has seven years or more left on their sentence is forced to migrate to another, town, city, state or country for various reasons including, safety, overflow of prisoners or because what they did was so bad that they were banished from the country
  • First Fleet

    The first fleet is the common name given to the 11 ships which left the shores of Great Britain on the 13th of May 1787 to find a penal colony which Cpt. James Cook had earlier found. This was later known to become Australia but was originally known as Van Diemens Land.
    The 11 ships were carrying over 1, thousand convicts, marines and seaman officers. The fleet took approximatley 250 days to arrive in Australia From Great Britain
  • Assasination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand

    Assasination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand
    The assasination of Archduke Franz Ferdiand occured on the 28th of June 1914, in Sarejavo, Bosnia and Herzegovnia. He was assasinated by Gavrilo Princip after a failed attempt from another memeber of the black hand gang. He was assasinated for the reason that Austria-Hungary had invaded surbia and taken some of their land and therefore the serbian government wanted to take out thier anger and therefore assasinated the Archduke.
  • Beggining of WW1

    World War one began due to the assasination of Archduke (of Austria-Hungary) in Sarejavo, Serbia. The war was mainly centered in Europe and only a few battles took place outside of Europe. Austria-Hungary blamed the Serbian Government for the assasination of the Archduke, and therfore declared war on them. Allies of both countries then got involved and then this kept escalating until 20+ countries were involved all over Europe. The start of WW1 was 1 month after the assasination of the Archduke.
  • End of WW1

    "The Great War" commonly known as World War 1 ended on the 11th of November 1918. This day is now known as Remembrance Day in Australia. In America Memorial Day is celebrated on the last monday of may each year. This is similar to Remembrance Day in which it is a day to remember all the servicemen and women who died in combat.
