The First Crusade
Cause: The first Crusade was caused because it was an attempt to capture Jerusalem once again after the Muslims captured it in 1076, any Christian who wanted to go on a journey to the city had a very bad time.
Effect: Muslim Soldiers made life very difficult for the Christians and trying to get Jerusalem was very dangerous for a Christian. This made all Christian very mad. -

Launched in 1189 Cause: It was called The third crusade because of the Muslim recapture of Jerusalem in 1187 AD for the third time and the defeat of Palestinian knights at Hittin.
Effect: Frederick I Barbarossa of Germany drowned before he even reached the Holy Land and Philip II Augustus of France returned to his home a while after. -

The magna was in 1215, it is an important event in the medieval era. The purpose of the Magna Carta was to limit king johns control as king, it was a collection of 37 laws, and it showed that the power of the king could be limited by a written allowance. This was the beginning of the first ever legal government in England. This started governments in England for ever. -

Mongols invade Japan
The Mongol invasion of Japan, lead by Kublai Khan, was the only severe threat to Japan from abroad prior to World War II.
Cause - Kublai Khan came to power in 1260, Kublai Khan wanted to gain control of japan by invading and making japan his own but failed.
Effect – The Japanese defence had been beaten down and had to retreat that night, when the Mongols rushed to their boats, a huge and severe storm hit the island. This killed over 13, 000 Mongolian soldiers and sinking 200 ships. -

During the 13th century the Mongols, led by Genghis Khan and his family, were in control of most of Asia, that is including China and Korea. cause: His grandson Kublai Khan sent threatning letters to japanese leaders. they were ignored untill he got angry, so he sent a huge fleet to invade japan. effect: The battle caused hardship for many japanese warriors, who got no rewards form the war. only debts. -

Origins of the Black Death
The Black Death started in the middle of Asia.
Cause: it all started when a Mongolian army was exposed to fleas or rats which carried a disease called Yersinia pestis. Once one army member had caught the disease other people would be caught with the disease as well, it was highly contagious.
Effect: The disease spread very quickly in the cities and the suburbs of Asia. Around 20 million people caught the disease and not many survived the plague. This was the beginning of the Black Death. -

The start of the Black Death
The Black Death began in 1346 and stopped in 1352. Between those times the plague spread from Asia all the way across the Middle East, Europe and North America. The plague killed millions of people throughout the world. The plague was carried by rodents and transported by fleas. The Plague was very contagious and that’s what caused a lot of the deaths. -

The Flagellants
In 1347 there was a weird group of people who were named the flagellants.
Effect: the flagellant’s hurt them selves by whipping themselves, and they did this to gain god’s forgiveness for their sins they had done during their life.
Cause: they thought god had brought the Black Death to punish them for all their sins. -

Plague Reaches England
The bubonic Plague started in 1347 in the black sea area in Asia. In August 1348 it had already reached England.
Cause this is because the plague was spread by fleas and transported by rats on boats that stopped in different places, the rats would run out the boat and onto land which would give the humans the disease and that’s how the plague began.
Effect around 25 million people died in Europe, it was tragic. -

Christopher Columbus
He is known for sailing across the Atlantic Ocean in 1492, hoping he would find a way to India because he could trade the spices with them. He also went to the South America and the Caribbean four times. Christopher found a route to trade the spices which was very helpful to them at that time. After Christopher Columbus had sailed to South America across the Atlantic Ocean, many explorers followed his footsteps and did the same thing. -

Cause- Toyotmi Hideyoshi commanded troops in the Battle of Anegawa in 1570 and was active in Nobunaga's campaigns against the Asai and Asakura. effect- Initially based at Odani, the former Asai headquarters, Hideyoshi soon moved to Imahama, a port on Lake Biwa. -

The Takeda and Tokugawa had fought many times before. Takeda Katsuyori was the son of the general Takeda Shingen and was ready to try and make a name for himself.
cause: To control Japan one had to control the center capital city of Kyoto Effect: A samurai named Torii Sune'emon escaped the Battle with a messgae asking for relief. The attack began on 17 June and continued for several days until the 22nd -
The Great Plague Of London
After the plague had happened in the 14th centuries another one had accrued in London, England. The Plague was known as the great plague of London, it happened in 1664. Death rates were getting higher because it was spreading and also because of poor hygiene and cramped living styles. The people in London did not know the cause of the plague but they were working it out. After the plague of London was over they were trying to make a better living conditions and make it back to normal again. -

Cause: The biggest reason that the United States sent Matthew Perry to Japan was to use it as a "coaling base" or a base where steamships, which used coal, they could restock their coal supply. Japan was a perfect location for this because it was at almost the same latitude as San Francisco. -
Fall of Constantinople
In 1453, the ottoman Turks led Sultan Mehmed the 2nd invaded Constantinople. It was very unfair because there were 200,000 troops of Turks and only 12,000 Constantinople troops. The Turks were very prepared as they had cannons and warships, there tactics were very smart as well. Constantinople didn’t know what to do, they got completely wiped out. From that day on Constantinople was changed to Istanbul by. Many Greek scholars had to leave Constantinople and move to Italy to live. -
Viking expssion
In the eighth century the Vikings invaded all of west Europe, they attacked from boats which were constructed for attack and defence. In the year 800 Charles the great had to improve his defence system because of the attack they had from the Vikings. The Vikings had infested the Gallic sea and had attacked many empires. -
Christopher Columbus landed in South America
Christopher Columbus set sail in Spain with around about 90 men with 3 ships. He wanted to reach Asia with his troops and he believed the quickest way to get to Asia was to sail across the Atlantic Ocean. They set sail in the Canary Islands, when in the Canary Islands they had a days to repair the boats with any damages. On October the 12th the ships landed in Guanahani, the Bahamas. Columbus claimed the land and called it San Salvador. -
Loot and Land
Cause: when the Vikings invaded Britain's Holy Places it was to get power and to get land so the Vikings could become well known and take treasures from the monks. They slaughtered people to start a leadership and to make them intimidating to other groups. Effect: This event left Britain and its monks depressed and suffering from poverty, leaving them without valuables and land which was halfed with the vikins that invaded their land.
