    To break the spirit of Chinese resistance, Japanese General Matsui Iwane ordered that the city of Nanking be destroyed. Much of the city was burned, and Japanese troops launched a campaign of atrocities against civilians. In what became known as the “Rape of Nanking,” the Japanese butchered an estimated 150,000 male “war prisoners,” massacred an additional 50,000 male civilians, and raped at least 20,000 women and girls of all ages, many of whom were mutilated or killed in the process.

    Japan flew over to america (hawaii) and bombed a harbor. Japan was trying to trigger America, and also deprive them of military utilities making it harder for the US. This caused US to join the war.

    This was an invasion done by the allies that was deadly. The allies were trying to regain control of France. They ended up winning and taking back control which was a stepping stone towards the end of the war.

    The Germans were trying to push back on the allies and made a bulge, but were defeated in the end. It happened because Germany was trying to regain back all of the land that they had lost. This caused Germany to be set back a lot in terms of their position on the war.

    Iwo Jima was an Island off of japans coast that The US militia invaded and took over. It happened because Iwo Jima had three airfields that could serve as a staging facility for a potential invasion of mainland Japan. This is important because this lead to The US defeating japan.

    This was one of the last battles of WW11. the Navy’s Fifth Fleet and more than 180,000 U.S. Army and U.S. Marine Corps troops descended on the Pacific island of Okinawa for a final push towards Japan. This was almost an end to the war, and brought the allies closer to victory.

    Germany surrendered. This was known as VE day or victory in Europe. It happened because the allies defeated the axis alliance. This was virtually the end of the war.

    This was after the US bombed japan. VJ day or victory in Japan, Was the end to WW11. Even though this was good, the damage that was left and the death toll was insanely horrible, and was the worst in history.
