Sudetenland (part of Czechoslovakia) was taken over and annexed by Germany under Nazi rule. This marked the beginning of Hitler's many imperial aggressive attacks.

Pearl Harbor
Japanese planes attacked a United States naval base on Hawaii. This caused 2,335 US casualties. Japan intended for this attack to keep the US out of the war, but instead it dragged them in.

The Philippines
Ten hours after the attack on Pearl Harbor, Japan launched a surprise attack on the Philippines. It ultimately ended in a surrender by the Philippines until the United States came to their aid.

Island Hopping
Island Hopping was a major US strategy in the Pacific Theater used to push Japanese forces all the way back to their mainland. It worked by taking over islands in the Pacific Ocean one by one with great strength until the last Island to be taken was Japan Itself
