    Rape of Nanking
    In a period of about 6 weeks Japanese absolutely obliserated Nanking. They raped, tortured, and killed thousands of chinese people.     Germany's Invasion of Poland
    On September 1st, 1939, Germany had invaded poland via the air. This happened because Adolf Hitler wanted to regain lost teritory and be the ruler of poland. Many historians consider this the beginning of WWII. In the beginning, Poland made many mistakes.     A German term for "lighting war." This is a military strategy that is meant to create disorganization of the enemy forces via mobile forces and locally concentrated firepower. If executed succsesfully, it creates short military campaigns, preserves the lives of humans, and limits the expenditure of artillary.     On June 22, 1941, Adolf Hitler moves his military eastward to invade the Soviet Union. Germany brang over 3 million soldiers, 150 division, and about 3 thousand tanks along. Also, by this time, the effectivness of the German army had reached it's peak in everything.   • Pearl Harbor

    Pearl Harbor
    A few hours before 8 in the morning, hundreds of Japanese fighter planes attacked an american naval base at Pearl Harbor. It only lasted about two hours, but it was immensely devastating. More than 2,000 salors and soldiers died and about 1,000 were wounded in the harrible attack.     During this march, about 75,000 Fillipino and American troops marched a 65 mile march to prison camps. The made this march through intense heat and were given harsh treatment by Japanese soldiers.
  • Wannsee Conference

    Wannsee Conference
    This is a conference were Nazi officials meet and discuss the Final Solution and the Jewish Question.   • Operation Gomorrah

    Operation Gomorrah
    In the Operation of Gomorrah the Britsh raided Germany at night while America bombs it by day. Britain dropped 2,300 tons of incendiary bombs on Germany. This bombing was equivalent to that of what Germany to London.   • D-Day

    D-Day
    This was codenamed operation overlord and this battle began on June 6. About 156,000 American, British and Canadian troops landed on a 50 mile stretch on the coast of Normandy. This is one of the largest military assualts in history. This invasion also called for an imense amount of planning.   • Operation Thunderclap

    Operation Thunderclap
    This operation was a proposal to bomb the eastern most cities of Germany to disrupt the transport. It started on the night of Febuary 13th with two british attacks. The casualties ranged from about 25,000-35,000. The Soviets asked the allies to conduct an air raid on Germany to prevent the shift of their troops.
  • Battle of Iwo Jima

    Battle of Iwo Jima

  • Battle of Okinawa

    This is one of the last and biggest battle of WWII. This battle involved a total of about 287,000 of the U.S tenth army and about 130,000 Japanese troops of the Thirty-second army. There were vital air bases at stake for this battle.
