  • Kristallnacht

    the "night of broken glass" during which 7500 Jewish buisnesses were looted, 191 synagogues were burned, nearly 100 jews killed and tens of thousands sent to concentration camps.
  • Germany invades Poland

    Offical start to the war.
  • Britain & France declare war on Germany

  • France surrendered to Germany

    Six weeks after Germany invaded Poland, France surrendered to Germany.
  • Battle of Britain

    German air attacks attacks against Britian. It was on attemot to destroy British Airforce but failed.
  • Japan joins Axis

    in response to American embargos Japan joins the Axis
  • Pearl Harbor

    Japan plans suprise attack on US naval base. US declares war on Japan and enters the war.
  • Battle of the Coral Sea

    Allied forces defeat the Japanese and stop Japanese forces from advancing the Pacific.
  • Battle of Midway

    4 day battle where the US destroyed hundreds of Japanese planes and regained control of the Pacific. Japanese continued to fight even after the war in Europe ened.
  • Italy surrenders

    Italian goverment officially surrenders to allied powers, German troops still occupy much of Italy
  • D-Day Invasion

    Allied invasion of France and stormed the beaches of Normandy.
  • Victory-in-Europe Day (V-E Day)

    Germany surrenders and it is the end of the war in Europe.
  • Potsdam Conference

    Eastern Europe's discussion continued and the solidified plan for Germany occupation and Poland would have free elections.
  • The 1st Atomic Bomb

    President Truman ordered the first bomb dropped on Hiroshima
  • The 2nd Atomic Bomb

    The second was bombed dropped on Nagasaki.
