Japan blames China for blowing up a Manchurian railroad and they used that as justification for invading China. The League of Nations warned Japan of aggression but lacked the power to enforce it on Japan. Later Japan left the League of Nations. -

Fifteen leading Nazi bueaucrats gathered to discuss the "final solution", a plan to externinate all Jews from Germany, eventually to exterminate to all of Europe. -

This day takes place a couple of days after the day Germany officially surrenders. Is to celebrate the end of the European side of World War 2. -
Potsdam Confence
Taking place in the Berlin suburbs. They discussed about the Allied control of Germany, the occupation of Austria, and the demarcation of the bondaries of Poland. -
U.S. Bombs Hiroshima and Nagasaki
The U.S. dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima on August 6 and then on Nagasaki in August 9. This was a revolutionary war that showed how devastating newly made war technology can be. Japan soon surrendered after this. -

Japan finally surrenders and many people are celebrating. This days is a couple of days after Japan surrenders and it celebrates the end of World War 2 on the Japanese side. -

Established as a regional military alliance agaisnt the Soviet aggression. Was meant to maintain peace through collective defense. -
Mao Zedong Establishes the People's Republic of China
The communist party of Mao Zedong that brought to an end the long period of imperialist intrustion in China and spawned a close relationship between the world's largest and most powerful socialist states. -
Korean War
Influenced by Russia, communist North Korea tries to invade capitlistic South Korea to reunite Korea. Ended in a defeat for the North Koreans as US forces launch a risky attack on the capital of North Korea. -

After the death of Stalin the people of Russia begin to question Stalin's rule. His sccessor Khrushhev embarked on a policy to de-Stalinize Russia. -

Established by Russia, it was made to counterbalance NATO. It is a military alliance of 7 communist European nations. -

Russian sattelite the started the competition between the United States and Russia known as the "space race". As the sattelite launched, citizens of the United States begin to question its educational system. -

The United States intervieneced to try to keep South Vietnam a democracy, opposed to North Vietnam which wasn't. -

The United States send in agents to try to assinate Fedil Castrol and deminish his influence. The agents were captured and Castrol's influence was tightened around Cuba. -

A wall dividing Russia ruled East Germany and Allied ruled West Germany. The western side recieved support from Britian, France, and the United States. -
Cuban Missle Crisis
Russia set up nuclear missiles in Cuba. JFK warned Russia to take back their missiles and Russia realized how dangerous a nuclear war can be and pulled them back. -
Gorbachev
Russian politican who helped to end the Cold War with his policies. He worked to reconstruct the government and liberalize society as communishm unravel. -
Collapse of the Soviet Union
During the end of the Cold War, the Soviet Union was divided into fifteen seperate countries. They overthrew Gorbachev to establish a market-oriented economy and not communism.
