    Selective Service Act
    This Act requires all men from the ages 21 to 30 to register for military service. A few months later and the US had 10 million men in service for WWI.
  • Hitler is named leader of the Nazi Party in Germany

    Hitler is named leader of the Nazi Party in Germany
    On that day Hitler became the leader of the Nazi party in Germany, he rules as a totalitarian state from 1933 to 1945. Rules Germany throughout his entire participation in WWII.
  • Kellogg-Briand Pact

    Kellogg-Briand Pact
    This was an agreement to outlaw war, it was many of the efforts to prevent another World War. This pact will have very little effect on the militarization in the ’30s or the beginning of WWII.
  • Japan invades Manchuria

    Japan invades Manchuria
    Japan starts the invasion of Manchuria which was right after the Mukden Incident. Japanese empire set a puppet state in the state of Manchukuo.

    What this does is that it gives a legislative body the power to take immediate action. This became Adolf Hitler’s total seizure of power.

    This neutrality act prohibited the exportation of arms, ammunition, and implement of war to foreign countries. This will make the US be a neutral country during the war.

    FDR is the president of the US with the longest term, a third term would be banned a decade later in the US, a year later that FDR takes control of the presidency for the third time the US will enter WWII.

    A. Philip Randolph’s march and Roosevelt’s response
    Randolph, the founder of brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters proposed a march on Washington D.C to protest discrimination in the military industry, he called African Americans from all the country to go to the march. Roosevelt responded with an Executive order 8802 prohibiting discrimination in defense jobs or governments.

    Lend-Lease program enabled
    Provided for military aid to any country whose defense was vital to the security of the United States. The plan thus gave Roosevelt the power to lend arms to Britain with the understanding that, after the war, America would be paid back in kind.

    The Japanese Empire surprised the US army base on Hawaii with an aerial attack which caused many US casualties and make the United States declared war on the Japanese empire.

    Adolf Hitler declares war against the United States
    This year four days after the attack on Pearl Harbor and after the US declare war to the Japanese empire, Hitler declares war to the US, the US was still a neutral country during that year.
