The attack on Sydney Harbour
In the late afternoon on the 31st May 1942 Japanese midget submarines attacked the Sydney Harbour, which continued on the 1st June. They were sent from 5 larger submarines the day before. All three midget submarines were lost, with two of them destroyed before they could fire their torpedoes. The third fired at but missed the USS Chicago, sinking HMAS Kuttabul, a coverted ferry, and killing 21 sleeping sailors aboard. -

German High Command authorised signing of an unconditional surrender. Japan didn't stop. -
