Germany wanted land. Poland was easy land to them. They defeated the entire polish army in weeks. many were massacred. France and Great Britain ignored Germany until this point. They noticed that Germany was too strong. This is where WWII started. -

Europe goes to the places in western Europe which have been conquered. Now that Germany has been defeated France is free. -

The U.S. didn't want to bomb the innocent civilians, but it was the only way to make Japan surrender without having to send out American soldiers to die. This sacrifice saved more than it killed.
