    Beginning at the 10th of May, German tanks and planes now roar into the French countryside, as German armored units flank the Maginot Line and rampage unopposed into Paris on the 14th of June. in this short span of 6 weeks, Adolf Hitler has conquered numerous countries, with the city of France now being his prized possession.

    Britain´s Royal Air Force must now face the most formidable fleet of aircraft in the modern world, the Luftwaffe. For 3 moths and 3 weeks between 10 July and 31 October, the infamous night-time raids known as ¨The Blitz¨ took place. Bombs were dropped on the city of London in an attempt to weaken moral in the U.K.

    The Lend-Lease Act of March 11, 1941, was the principal means for providing U.S. military aid to foreign nations during World War II. The act authorized the president to transfer weapons for which Congress appropriated money to ¨the government of any country whose defense the President deems vital to the defense of the United States.” Britain, the Soviet Union, China, Brazil, are some countries to receive weapons under this act.

    Operation Barbarossa ,The Axis invasion of the Soviet Union, starting Sunday, 22 June 1941, during World War II. The operation stemmed from Nazi Germany's ideological aims to conquer the western Soviet Union so that it could be repopulated by Germans, to use Slavs as a slave-labour force for the Axis war-effort, and to seize the oil reserves of the Caucasus and the agricultural resources of Soviet territories.

    On December 7, 1941, at 7:48 a.m., the U.S naval base of Pearl Harbor was attacked by 353 Imperial Japanese aircraft in 2 waves, launched from 6 aircraft carriers. All 8 U.S. Navy battleships were damaged, with 4 sunk. The surprise military strike by the Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service against the U.S. naval base led to the United States' entry into WWII. The Japanese military leadership referred to the attack as the Hawaii Operation and Operation AI, and as Operation Z during its planning.

    On 11 December 1941, four days after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor and the U.S´ declaration of war against the Japanese Empire, Nazi Germany declared war against the United States, in response to what was claimed to be a series of provocations by the United States government. The decision to declare war was made by Adolf Hitler, apparently offhand. Later that day, the United States declared war on Germany.

    The battle of Midway occurred between 4 and 7 June 1942, only 6 months after Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor. The United States Navy under Admirals Chester Nimitz, Frank Fletcher, and Raymond Spruance defeated an attacking fleet of the Imperial Japanese Navy under Admirals Isoroku Yamamoto, Chuichi Nagumo, and Nobutake Kondo near Midway Atoll, inflicting devastating damage on the Japanese fleet that proved irreparable.

    The Normandy landings were the operations held on Tuesday, 6 June 1944 of the Allied invasion of Normandy during World War II. The operation began the liberation of northwestern Europe from Nazi control, and laid the foundations of the Allied victory on the Western Front. The landing of 24,000 American, British, and Canadian airborne troops shortly after midnight. The stretch of the Normandy coast was divided into five sectors: Utah, Omaha, Gold, Juno, and Sword.

    During the final stage of World War II, the U.S. detonated two nuclear bombs on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki on August 6 and 9, 1945. The two bombings killed at least 129,000 people, mostly civilians. They remain the only use of nuclear weapons in the history of warfare. Japan announced its surrender to the Allies on August 15, 6 days after the bombing of Nagasaki and the Soviet Union's declaration of war.
