  • Battle of Britain

    Battle of Britain
    This battle had occured May 10, 1940, the canadian army was involved for many reasons, such as they were fighting with the British army,the canadian army was flying the planes and their job was to target the German air force and bomb them and their planes. Canada did make a mistake while letting loose the bombs, they had bombed one of Britain's airplanes. This war was most significant because in history it is the first battle that was fought in the air and it was WWIIs most cruical battle.
  • Battle of Dunkirk

    Battle of Dunkirk
    Out of significance I gave this battle an eight, it occured May 25, 1940, the 2nd division of canadian forces were involved. The candian forces had the task of making sure the Germans couldn't enter into the town, but the Germans defeated them, which forced the canadian troops to surrender and evacuate. They attempted to try and capture the port, at the end of this war Canada had lost many men and was unsuccessful.

    Battle of Atlantic
    For this battle I give a four out of significance. On September 15, 1940 the battle of Atlantic had occured, canada had played a huge role in this battle, because they were helping to fight for Britain. When the amount of canadian soilders grew so did theyre responsibilities in this battle. Candians wanted control over the Atlantic ocean, therefore they could have control over the cargo, otherwise Germany wouldn't allow cargo to pass through the Atlantic ocean.
  • Battle of Hong Kong

    I ranked this battle a five out of significance, it occured on December 8, 1941. This battle was againt the japenese and the canadian units fought to protect and defend the colony. Candians had fought the Japenese while having to face and suffer heavy cassualties, but then the canadians were told and then forced to surrender on Christmas day. The canadians that surrvived had to spend there time as a prisoner of war of hardships for around three years.
  • Battle of Dieppe

    Out of significance I gave this battle a four, the battle of Dieppe had occured on August 19, 1942. The canadian's second division was involved, from Canada some there were some fighters and the others were part of the air force to throw down bombs from the sky. The canadians had gotten the most impossible task that could ever be given in this battle by the Allies, which was to establish a beachhead against the enemy they were fighting.

    Out of significance I gave the I talian Campaign an seven, this event occurred July 10, 1943, the 1st canadian division was involved. In WWII, this was Canada's first and most major ground participation battle, that was help in Europe. It's the first time canadians have fought with Germans in the country of Italy, they completed their task whcih was to drive the Germans from Sangro River, this was successful. Playing a distinguished part whcih was caused by the canadian army's tank.

    This battle is second most significant for me, it occured June 6, 1944. Canada had lost many men but they were successful, the 1st canadian parachute had responsiblities in this war. Such as tearring down the bridges that were on the Divetter Rivers and Dives in Robehomme and Varaville. The German artillery attacked the flank which was suppose to be protected. Another thing he was responsible for was to ensurre on taking a responsible position at Le Mesnils crossroad.

    The Battle of D-Day: Part 2
    Canada's part in this war was to make sure between the St-Aubin-sur-mer and courseilles there was a bedhead that they would establish. Canadians had to push a gap through the Caen and Bayeux and to destroy to the Capriquet airfield.
  • The Liberation of the Netherlands

    The Liberation of the Netherlands
    I gave the Liberation of Neterlands a six for significance, this event took place September 13, 1944. The canadian army had a major role in the liberation of all the Dutch citizens, which have been suffering without any food. Canada also had a leading role opening the Netherlands and Belgium. The canadian army got together to force the Germans eastward away from the Netherlands, which helped. In order to fight the house by house battle the candian army had to clear the city of Arnhem.
