    Food was in short supply for a variety of reasons: much of the processed and canned foods was for shipping overseas the priority of transporting soldiers and war supplies instead of food.

    WAC was the first women to serve aside from nurses. Over 150,000 women served in the Army. The women were filling the labor positions for the men.
