Nazi's start shutting down the gay bars in Germany to reinforce paragraph 175 and exclude gays from society. -
Gay institutes are declared illegal
A few weeks prior to Hitlers seize to power, all gay institutes were suddenly declared illegal and a special gestapo was set up to find gay men. This being done by using contact information from German police. -
Nazi's take over Germany
During the Reichstag, Hitler was given extended power due to the Enabling Act of 1933. -
Books of the Institute for Sexual Science burned
In May the Institute for Sexual Science was ransacked by the Nazi’s and over 12,000 of its books were publicly burned. -
Introduction pink triangle
In 1937 the upside down pink triangle was introduced amongst other colours. It labeled gays, bisexuals and transgender people. -
Forced castration
In 1942, forced castration of gays without their consent was introduced. -
Gays become an extermination target
Over 9,000 gays are killed in the work or extermination camps. -
