German Blitzkrieg
While most countries were recuperating and rebuilding from the detrimental damages of WWI, Germany had a political crisis. This battle was the Germans last ditch effort to stay in the war. The Germans were looking to have one more successful offensive to stay in the war, and that was the Battle of the Bulge. -
D-Day
America storms Omaha Beach to try regain the allies territory from the Nazi's. This attack was one of the most memorable attacks of WWII which led to America eventually regaining Omaha Beach, but not without a plethora of deaths between both sides. -
Warsaw Ghetto Uprising
This was an uprising in the Warsaw Ghetto by Jewish captives to try escape from the German army. This led to many deaths on scene, and any survivors being taken to concentration camps. -
Liberation of Paris
The Allies re-gaining Paris from the Germans. The French Resistance began to rise against the Germans in Paris on 15 August, but the Allies were still pushing the Germans toward the Rhine and did not want to get embroiled in a battle for the liberation of Paris. -

This was the discovery of concentration camps by the Soviet Union. The soviets first discovered Majdanek in Lublin, Poland. This is when the truth about what happened in the camps first became public. -
Battle of Iwo Jima
This was a month long battle between the Americans and Japanese where the Americans would try and
the would succeed to capture the island of Iwo Jima. They used this island to set up an airbase for easier air raids on Japan so they wouldn't have to fly all the way over from America and waste gas on their planes. -
Suicide of Hitler
The suicide of Hitler was the beginning of the end for the Axis powers. As the allies closed in on Hitlers bunker in Berlin, he was running out of options for survival; until he and his wife decided to take the easy way out. This led to the defeat of Germany in WWII. -

VE Day (Victory in Europe Day) marks the day the allies defeated Germany and regained territory of France. This is also the unofficial day of Hitler's death -
Dropping of Atomic Bombs
These were America's final attacks of the war. They dropped the first two atomic bombs ever created on Hiroshima and Nagasaki respectively. This led to the surrender of Japan, and the end of WWII as well as a new dynamic in nuclear warfare forever. -

VJ Day (Victory of Japan Day) marks the official end of WWII. It's celebrated by the allies as the day Japan surrendered to them.
