Mao Zedong heads Long March
Chinese Nationalists (Kuomingtang), led by Jiang Jieshi, chased Chinese Communists, led by Mao Zedong, for 6,000 miles throughout China. Mao was "one of the peasants" rode on horse with them he was "swimming in a sea of peasants". He didn't really travel with them. -
Germany Invades Poland; Fracne and GB declare war on Germany
In the Versailles treaty the Polish corridor became part of Poland. The Germans wanted that land (the Danzig port) to be rencorperated to Germany. Germany invaded Poland then Franc eand Great Britain declared war and became Allies. -
Japan attacls pearl harbor
Japan's attack on the US at Pearl Harbor was a surprise attack. Although the US new the Japanese were planning an attack, they didn't know when or where the attack would come from. Japan attacked pearl Harbor because Hawaii was a "dagger pointing at Japan's throat". -
Germany Surrenders
After Germany's last attempt to win the war, with the Battle of the Bulge, Germany surrendered. A few days before, Hitler married long time girlfriend, Eva Braun, and killed them both. -
Allies use Atomic Bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki
The Allies sent a letter to the Emperor of Japan statting that they should surrender, or the US would drop a weapon of mass destruction on Japan. Japan ignored this letter, and days later Hiroshima was bombed, with the first bomb of it's kind. An atomic bomb, created by Alber Einstien. -
United Nations were formed
The United Nations was formed after the war, and replaced the League of Nations (formed after WWI). It was formed to prevent from there being another World War.
