Shortly after the war began FDR found a loophole in the Neutrality Acts. He traded 50 warships to Britain for bases on the Island of Bermuda. -

Japan sent a sneak attack on pearl harbor. They sank 8 ships, 3 cruisers, 4 destroyers, and 6 other vessels. the attack also killed 2,403 ameriacas. That Night Roosevelt asked congress to declare war on Japan. -
Germany Surrenders
Germany surrenders and thus ends the war in Europe. -
Atomic bombs
The U.S dropped the first two atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. This promptly ended the war with Japan.
