    Executive Order 9066
    The main goal of this was to remove people of Japanese heritage from the Western U.S. like California, Washington, Oregon, and Arizona. They were forced to move out of their homes and to move into internment camps. Two thirds of the 110,000 affected were Americans.
  • The Bataan March

    The Bataan March
    The U.S. had surrendered, the Japanese were highly against surrenduring. It was a very bad thing to them. Sick, starving soldiers were forced to march for 5 days and nights. The people who who had dropped out of line, or fallen, had been beaten, shot, or left for the dead.
  • D-Day

    D-Day
    This day in history was known as Operation Overlord. The allies had wanted to launch a large invasion of mainland Europe. Omar Bradley lead the American troops as we stormed the beaches of Normandy. There were 10,000 allied casualties at the end.
  • Auschwitz Liberation

    Auschwitz Liberation
    Soviet troops rushed into Aushwitz and freed the survivors of the concentration camps there. The horrors of the world were finally revealed. The Red- Army had been advancing sin mid-January, and already liberated Warsaw and Krakow.

    Raising the Flag on Mount Suribachi
    The United States wanted a new place for B-29 bomber raids. On the 23rd of February 1945, they set out to capture Iwo Jima. They didn't know that the island was being heavily guarded by the Japanese, and that they outnumbered us. They hid in tunnels and caves protected by concrete. All but 1,000 Japanese troops had been killed and 7,000 Americans were dead.
  • Bombing of Hiroshima

    Bombing of Hiroshima
    Americans had been preparing for the day they needed to use the atomic bomb, that day was this day. The U.S. had sent a B-29 bomber plane, carrying an atomic bomb over the city of Hiroshima, Japan. They dropped it and it wiped out 90% of the city and killed 80,000 people. The Japanese still did nothing and so 3 days later, a bomb was dropped on Nagasaki. Their emperors voice was heard for the first time and Japan had surrendered and the U.S. won.
