    Exectuive Order 9066
    Japanese Americans were forced to leave their homes, and were taken to internment camps, which consisted of Americans being suspicious of Japanese Americans being spies for Japan. Japanese Americans weren't alone; also German and Italian Americans were of suspicion as well, but they didn't get treatment as bad as the Japanese had to. German and Italian Americans were forced to carry around ID cards, so the American government would know if they could possibly be a spy or not.
  • The Bataan Death March

    The Bataan Death March
    The Bataan Death March was when the Japanese army made 10,000 Filipino troops and 650 American troops on a 80 mile death march. There was a wide range of abuse and murder, which was mainly caused, when a person would step out of line and was beaten or brutally murdered. If one were to fall, they were left for dead, without anyone to help them. If one were to step out of line, they were shot, stabbed with a bayonet, and etc.
  • D-Day

    D-Day
    D-Day took place on June 6, 1944, on the beaches of Normandy.
    D-Day was meant as for the day and H-Hour was meant meant for the hour. The invasion was orginally set for June 5, 1944, but due to complications, they weren't allowed to invade.
  • Auschwitz Liberation

    Auschwitz Liberation
    More than 7,000 remaining prisoners were liberated, which mainly consisted of the ill and dying. It was estimated that nearly 1.3 million people were deported to Auschwitz and out of these people 1.1 miliion were murdered. It was said that more than 15,000 people died from the death marches from Auschwitz.

    Raising the flag on Mount Suribachi
    One photographer was unable to find the soliders who raised the flag for the first time, so he decided to take the photo of the second raising of the flag, which showed more of the flag than the first. The photo impressed FDR so much, that he ordered the men that were in the photo, to be sent home for a publicity tour. Later on, the photographer that took the photo, won a Pulitzer prize for the photo.
  • Bombing of Hiroshima

    Bombing of Hiroshima
    The bomb was dropped from an American B-29 Superfortress on 0815 local time. The Hiroshima bomb was also known as "Little Boy". The death toll was of 140,000 peope out of Hiroshima's popultaion of 350,000 people. The huge cloud that was caused by the bomb, completely covered the city with dust and ash.
