Germany sends the secret Zimmerman Telegram to Mexico. Sent that in as an effort to entice Mexico to join the war. The British intercept and decipher the coded message. -
Fourteen Points
U.S. President Woodrow Wilson issues his Fourteen Points. Stated that it was being fought for a moral cause. It also called for postwar peace in Europe. -
Treaty
Russia signs the Treaty of Brest Litovsk. It was a peace treaty between Russia and the Central Powers. This ended Russia’s participation in WWI. -
Victoria Cross
Was in command of HMS Vindictive. Was to land a force of 200 Royal Marines on the mole at Zeebrugge at the start of the Zeebrugge Raid. For his conduct during this action he was awarded the Victoria Cross. -
The signing
Germany signs the armistice at Compiegne, France. Fighting ends on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. That is the 11 AM on November 11. -

Taught a course for naval officers at Cambridge. Held the battleship from 1928-29. Was promoted to Rear-Admiral in 1929. -
Ending
The Treaty of Versailles officially ends World War 1. It ended the state of war between Germany and the Allied Powers. It was signed exactly five years after the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. -
After WWI/Death
Retired in January 1934. Acted as a commander of the Home Guard during the Second World War. Died in 1955.
