Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbis because they blamed Serbia for the assassination of the Archduke. Mostly because the assassin was from Serbia. -
United Kingdom declares war on Germany for invading Belgium
The United Kingdom had a treaty with Belgium to protect them from anybody that invaded them. When Germany invaded Belgium, the UK had no choice but to declare war on Germany. One of the many entangling alliances in this war. -

This is important because everybody wanted an ever-lasting peace in the world and they thought a group of all the nations working together would do that. A big part of why this did not work is because the United States did not join. The Senate believed the league of nations would take advantage of the United States army. Another reason why this did not work is because the league of nations tried to put all of the blame on one country, the country that started the next World War, Germany. -
League of Nations approves Treaty of Versailles
The treaty of Versailles was the treaty that officially ended the war. For the most part it put the blame completely on Germany. Germany had to sign the treaty that even said they were at fault for the war. Germany also had to pay compensation for the loses of the war to other countries.
