The battle of Somme was the biggest British military fail with over 50,000 casualties the first day. It was one of the bloodiest battles in human history. Multiple forces where annihilated in this battle. -
Russian Revolution (-1)
This revolution is what brought Russia out of the war. They had to focus on their country instead of the war as their country had went up in flames. The czars killed anyone who opposed them and Russia hated that so they wanted to overthrow them. -

The battle of Vimy Ridge was the first major Canadian Army victory. The battle was fought by Canadians with lots of planning. They used a "Creeping Barrage" to get behind German forces. It was led by Julian Byng. It was thought to be an impossible battle to win. After this victory Germany couldn't hold their ground and they started losing rapidly. -

Passchendaele was a brutal battle, fought in mud, rain and bodies. It was the worst possible condition for fighting in. The British achieved victory with many losses. Their guns jammed up in the mud and it was overall horrible. -

This is when the fighting stopped (11 AM). They fought right up to that hour. This armistice ended the fighting in WWI. -
Treaty of Versailles takes effect. (0)
This is the end of war peace treaty. It was heavily against Germany in policies. Many historians believe this is what started WWII.
