The Maine was an American naval ship that sank in Havana Harbor during the Cuban Revolt against Spain. The Maine sent 1914 a costly Allied victory. This was also the first US Navy ship to be named after the state of MAine. -
Battle of Marne
The first battle of Marne was a WWI battle. It resulted in an allied victory again the western German armies. This battle saved Paris and made Germany's plan off balance for a quick victory over France. -
Sinking of the Lusitania
The Lusitania was sunk by a German U-Boat in 1915. It was sunk during the first World War, as Germany waged submarine warfare against the United Kingdom. Within 20 minutes, the ship had sank into the Celtic Sea. -
Treaty of London
The treaty of London was more of a secret agreement between the Triple Entente and the kingdom of Italy. The treaty promised territories in return for entering the war for about a month. -
Battle of Verdun
A long deadly battle throughout 1916 which was the largest and longest battle of the First World War on the Western Front between the German and French armies. This battle lasted almost 10 months. There were around 800,000 to 900,000 casualties in this war. -
Battle of Somme
The Battle of Somme was fought in northern France, and was one of the bloodiest battles in WWI. The goal of the battle was to relieve the French Army fighting at Verdun and to weaken the German Army. This battle extremely damaged the British Army. -
Revolution of 1917
The Revolution dismantled the Tsarist autocracy and led to a rise in the Soviet Union. It sparked a new beginning era in Russia and had effects on countries around the world. -
US Espionage Act Passed
The espionage act prohibited many forms of speech, such as any disloyal, profane, scurrilous, or abusive language about the form of government of the United States, or the flag of the United States.The purpose of the Espionage Act was to prohibit interference with military operations, and to ban support of U.S. enemies during wartime. -
Second Battle of Marne
With the withdrawal of Russian forces, Germany was able to reinforce the western front and launch an offensive in mid-March. In just about 4 months, Germany collapsed. This Battle is actually the same day as Veteran's Day. -

Draft Covenant of League of Nations completed
The Draft covenant was asking for assistance to be given to a member that experiences external aggression. Every member of the league covenants is to respect and preserve the territorial integrity and existing political independence of every other member of the league as against external aggression, not against internal disturbance. -
Treaty of Versallies
The Treaty of Versailles ended the state of war between Germany and the Allied Powers. But it forced Germany to accept full responsibility for war, lose all its territories, and pay reparation payments to the Allies. This treaty was a long and complex process.
