Assassination of Ferdinand
Archduke Ferdinand and his wife Sophie was assassinated in cold blood by Gavrilo Princip. This will be the spark that starts WW1, The idea behind the assassination was to break off the marriage that would unite into a Yugoslavia. -

Lusitania
The Lusitania was a British ocean liner that was sunk by a German U-boat. This ocean liner had 128 Americans aboard and caused a great upset. Along with the passengers aboard this ship there was a large amount of ammo aboard as well. This is what caused the USA to enter the war. -
Election of 1916
The two major candidates that are running against each other are Wilson and Charles Evans Hughes . Wilson wins on the slogan "He kept us out of war.." After his election he lowers the highest protecting tariff in the Nation for the first time in ever since the Civil War. -
Zimmerman Note
The Zimmerman Note was intercepted by some of the US intelligence officers in early January of 1917. Germany in this note explained how they wanted Mexico to created a two front war with the US and enter the war. Mexico would in return receive "payment" or lands (Arizona, New Mexico and Texas) back for there help. Mexico never entered the war, but the USA did and with our help Germany was put back in there place in the hierarchy and life went on... -
Russian Revolution
The start of the Russian Revolution was all due to the fact that the Soviets were trying to over throw the Russian government. This prohibited them from further entry in the war. They never admitted defeat, but they back out of the war and out of the mess that they help Germany create in the first place. -
Espionage and Sedition Act
In 1917 at the start of WW1 the president didn’t like all the criticism that he revived. In retaliation to this he enacted the Espionage and Sedition Acts. This allowed the president to imprisonment anyone who spoke ill of the government and the war. You could receive up to 30 years in prison or 20,000$ in fines. -
Selective Service Act
This Act was to enact the draft. So when a male turns 18 he has to sing up for the draft just in case war breaks out and and there is a need for the draft. -
War Industry Board
This war board was started in the middle of WW1. Its sole pourpase was to ration war matierials for the USA and for the troops. They talked other companies into making more war matierials and for starteing war products -
Fourteen Points
This is the speech that Wilson dressed the Nation and Congress after WW1 that spoke of three very distinctive ideas: no secret treaties, freedom of the seas, lower tariffs, and reducing arms. -
Armistice
In all the midst of this craziness and chaos the war stopped. An entire war stopped for an entire day and who knows what that day felt like.. all they know is that this day will stand out in history because this is the day that the earth stood still and there was no blood shed. -
Schenck v US
This court case was the first one of it's kind. The first admendment was under question. The court decided that Schenck was in the wrong becasue of "clear and present danger," and they used the analogy of screaming fire in a movie theater. -
Treaty of Versailles
This was the treaty that ended the war and unknowingly created the base for WW2. The three things that destroyed Germany's pride was they had to pay war debts and reparations,. After that Germany was demilitarized. Even after all this shame and humiliation Germany had admit that the war was all there fault even though it wasn’t.
