Blockade by the Nazis in Lenigrad that lasted from September of 1941 to January of 1944. THe Nazis cut off all food supplies that caused thousands of people to die. -

Conference that was held after WW2 to discuss peace settlements in Europe. It was officated by Russia( Stalin), Great Britain(Churchill) and the United States( Truman). -
Atomic bombing of Hiroshima & Nagasaki
An American bomber dropped the world's first atomic bomb onto Hiroshima and killed 90,000 people on impact. Three days later, bombers dropped a second bomb on Nagasaki. This cause Japan to surrender ending World War 2. -

This was the day that Japan surrendered to the U.S thus ending World War 2. -

The United Nations was an organization that was suppose to help countries come together so they could talk about their issues instead of causing another world war. -
Truman Doctrine
Declared by President Truman, this doument declared that the U.S would give aid to Greece and turkey in order for them not to fall under Soviet(communist ) influences.This is due to Britain annoncing that they could no longer afford to supply both countries. -

War between Communist North Korea adn Demorcratic South Korea. Started when North Korea crossed over the 38th parrallel and attacked South Korea. This also marked the begining of the COld War between the Soviet Union and the United States. -

War that began between French forces and comminist rebels. Then, on Novenber 1st, 1965 the US entered th ewar to help keep south Vietnam from being communist. Sadly, the US lost and withdrew soldiers on April 30, 1975 causing the end of the war. -

Name of the first sattelate ever lauched in space. This satellite was lauched y the Soviet Union and started " The Space Race" between the U.S and Soviet Union. -

Invasion of Cuba by the United States to overthrow Fidel Castro from Cuban goverment. Sadly, they failed. -

Wall that was built to separate Communist East Berlin from Democratic West Berlin. The wall last until November 9th, 1989 -

Crisis where the Soviet Union placed nuclear missles in Cuba. THis caused the US to have a naval blockade around Cuba.Diaster was avoided and the Soviet Leader promised to take down the missles id the US promised not to invade Cuba. -

Officer that went from being the SOviet Union's gernal secretary in 1985 to the president of the Soviet Union in 1990. -
