Guy Gibson led the legendary Operation Chastise on Ruhr's Dams. The raids on the dams took place on May 16, 1943.The Moehne and Eder Dams were destroyed but only 11 bombers out of 19 survived and 50 crew members were killed. -
Guy Gibson's death
On the return from one of his missions over Europe, Guy Gibson's Mosquito crashed and Guy and his navigator, Jim Warwick, were killed in September 1944. there were two theories of what happened, the first was that Guy ran out and ran out of fuel and crashed. The second was that was flying his Mosquito very low and was hit by enemy ground fire. -
