    Battle of Atlantic
    The battle of Atlantic was the longest and the most important battle of WWII. Canada was a huge participent in the victorious outcome. Canada provided half of their navy, and the east cost along with Newfoundland were in front line. Troops were sent to Halifax for protection of Atlantic shipping.

    Battle of Dunkirk
    This battle was very important between the allies and Germany. Hitler plans to cross the channel to England. A quater million men are sent to defend France.

    This battle was mainly faught in the air againts the German air force and the United Kingdom. Canada contributed many pilots. More than 100 Canadians were recorded to have fight along side Britain. Many more flew with the RAF squadrons and other Bomber and Coastal Commands providing support to prevent the German invasion.
  • Battle of Hong Kong

    Battle of Hong Kong
    To help defend the Crown Colony, Canada sent almost 2000 troops. 17 and a half days of intense fighting The Canadian Government to send two infantry battalions and a brigade headquarters (1,975 personnel) to reinforce the Hong Kong garrison. The 2 battalions were the Royal Rifles of Canada and Winnipeg Grenadiers.

    The battle of Dieppe was a preparation for DDay. Canada supported by sending in a strong force of Royal Navy and a smaller Royal Air Force. They went up the coast of the beach landings and attacked from shore.

    The Italian Campaign was near the end of the war in Europe. Canadians were to help gain control of the Island of Sicily. After 4 weeks of battle Sicily was lost to the Germans. There were 25,264 Canadian hurt during the fighting, including more than 5,900 who were killed.
  • D Day

    DDay is when Allied forces invaded northern France by going up beach landings in Normandy. Canadians placed a huge role in capturing 1/5 main beaches. They also had batallions to kill men and get soldiers across the bridge to the other side of the beach. They sent troops up the towers to control the shooting from the towers and sent troops to cross the bridge. The Canadians completed most of there tasks planned and continued to defete the German.
  • Liberation of the Netherlands

    Liberation of the Netherlands
    As the Canadian armies moved to the Netherlands were the Germans had occupied it. The 2nd Canadian Divison fought along the north bank and the 3rd Canadians cleared the south bank. Canadian troops from Italy moved to the North Sea with their back up, the Allies ended up battling the germans until the germans were defeted because of lack of troops.

    I think the most important event would have been the Battle of Atlantic. It was the kick off to a series of wars that continued to 1944. It was the longest continuous military campaign. The battle took place thoughout Europe. It included, British soldiers, British Allies aka Canadian forces such as the Royal Canadian Navy, who faught against the Germans aka Hitler.
