    November 8-16, 1942 Operation Torch was led by General Dwight D. Eisenhower. It was the first major allied military operation during world war 2. 65,000 troops were involved at Casablanca, Algiers, and Oran on the French North African Coast. There was a death of 1,300 french, 526 Americans and 574 British.

    On April 9-17, 1942 The Bataan Death March was American and Filipino troops had low supplies but fought for three months until they surrendered to Japaneses troops but were forced into the Bataan Death March. General Edward King surrendered because he didn't want to see his men starving and diseased being slaughtered by the Japanese army. In result of the surrendered there were 600 to 650 american deaths and 5,000 to 10,000 Filipinos deaths.

    In Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan there were 2 atomic bombings. The atomic bombing was to get Japan to surrender so the war would end early. On August 6th, 1945 the U.S. dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Japan which caused about 140,000 people to die it also left radiation on the city. Japan didn't surrender so the second bombing happened in Nagasaki, Japan on August 9th, 1945 caused 60,000 to 80,000 people to die.
