    When Archduke was visiting Sarajevo, a group of Serbian nationalists plotted to assassinate him. There first attempt of bombing him at a parade failed but the second time that day they managed to shoot Archduke and his wife killing both almost instantly.

More than 3 million men fought in this battle, one million were either killed or wounded. The allied won this battle, it ended on November 18, 1916.
