    On June 14, 1914, the heir to the Austrian-Hungarian Throne was assassinated by a member of the black hand member named Gavrilo Princip because of how Austria took over the Balkans. There were 2 assassination attempts, The first one failed because it was a grenade that exploded his car luckily the archduke was left uninjured. The second attempt was when Gavrilo saw the archduke in his car in which the member was eating lunch. Then Gavrilo took his chance and shoot the archduke.

    The battle of the Somme starts on July 1st, 1916. The British launched an attack on the Somme river so that they can pull the German troops off from Verdun.

    The Battle of Verdun had been won by neither Germany nor France when it came to their soldiers. The French suffered 400,000 casualties which was almost close to the number of casualties that Germany had.

    The Russian revolution of 1917 forced Russia to leave the war. They overthrow the Czar which is Russia's leader. Then Russia signed a treaty of Brest-Litovsk which brought peace between Russia and the central powers which had Germany and Austria-Hungary.

    After the Lusitania the Americans discovered something know as The Zimmerman Telegram which was a coded message from a German foreign secretary who's name was Arthur Zimmerman in order to recruit Mexico into the war.Germany wanted to recruit Mexico because if the Americans join the war then Germany could be allied to Mexico so that they would have the advantage against America.The Germans would also give Mexico money and also help them take back Arizona.

And 9 new nations of Europe of made because of nationalism. which includes Finland, Austria, Poland, Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia, Hungary, Latvia, and Lithuania. Also, Germany accepted full responsibility for starting the war in the first place.
