He served in the first world war. he enlisted with the Army in October 19 1914. He first started as an American Expeditionary Forces officer he was General Pershing. he also spent some time in the hospitable and sent letters to his father hoping to return home soon. then was discharged on July, 2 of 1919. -
Christmas truce
On Christmas, they stopped the war because it was Christmas and that 6 months has been miserable. the soldiers played soccer. One thing they also did was trade and sometimes people would get poisoned by beer or wine. this made soldiers happy because they thought the war would be over but it went on for four more years..but striate after they got back to the war. -
start of chemical gas
They used a chemical gas on their allies. it has been used in other wars before sometimes like in 1912 the french used it. they fired some at Russia but it was cold so most of it froze but it still killed 1000 people or more. On April 24 they fired more and it pushed them back to a town by may they retreated. by the end 1000’s died of toxic gas -
Lusitania sinking
On May 7 1915 the Lusitania sank. it got sunk by a torpedo that hit it. 1,195 people including 128 Americans died. This happen because Germany was trying to get America involved in the war. But it took a lot more to get them into the war. -
Battle of Ypres
In the Battle of Ypres, the French lost at least 50,000 at Ypres. the Belgians suffered more than 20,000 casualties. German forces begin the first of what would be three battles. Allen Forbes fought for France. there were a lot of disadvantages on both sides that kept the war going. -
Complete End of World War 1
This happen because there were rules set and those rules ended the war. Germany had a very harsh rule. the most hurt was 9 million people died in ww1. the estimated number of people hurt is 23 million people. for the first world war, this was a lot.
