Archduke Franz Ferdinand Gets Assassinated
Archduke Franz Ferdinand was the Heir to the Austrian throne. Him and his wife went to visit Sarajevo in Bosnia when the both of them were shot and killed by an assassin. It was believed that
the assassin was a Serbian nationalist, so the Austrians focused their anger at Serbia. Even when this event happened the U.S they still decided to stay neutral. -

The U.S deicides not to get involved in this point of the war. They have not been attacked so they decide stay out of it. -
Great Britain Declares war on Germany
Great Britain declares war on Germany, joining all of the British Empire together against the Germans. Including, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Africa. This gained of the attention of the U.S since they were allied with Great Britain and raised the question of if they should reenforce their ally. -
Germans Attack the Belgian Fortress City
German soldiers bombard the Belgian Fortress City but were met with strong opposition from Belgian troops from inside the forts. Though a high resistance was made Belgian troops retreat Northward and the German soldiers continued their westward advance. This ruthlessness and barbarianism of the German armies enraged the U.S. It highlighted the monstrosities of the German's cruel force. This pivotal moment swayed the U.S' opinion about joining the war. -
A German U-Boat sink the Lusitania
The Lusitania was a British passenger ship that was sunk buy a German U-Boat torpedoes. After 18 minutes it sank, downing 1,201 people which consisted of 128 Americans. This incident deepened the hatred of Germans in American hearts and added a moral element as Americans saw how carelessly Germany could throw away innocent lives. In other words, it became a personal threat to America's safety and proved staying out of this fight was not an option anymore. -
President Woodrow Wilson Gets Reelected.
President Woodrow Wilson wins the hearts of his citizens using his famous slogan, "He kept us out of war". This would determine exactly when the U.S decided to join the war and proves that the U.S originally wanted nothing to do with it. -
The British intercept a German Telegram
This intercepted piece of information was called the Zimmermann telegram. It was a note from Germany to Mexico detailing the proposal of an alliance between them to team up against the U.S. This ignited the spark for the U.S' anger to deepen towards Germany. The plans for the potential alliance caused an uproar in America. It was a direct plan from Germany to try and take down the U.S. -

This is an absolutely crucial part of the war for America. In response to Zimmermann's telegram the U.S realized that they can no longer stay neutral in this war and must take action.
