Archduke Assassination
Austrian Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie went on a trip to Sarajevo, Bosnia to help show that the land was part of Austria-Hungary. When they were there they attended a parade they were shot and killed on June 28th, 1914 by Black hand terrorist national group. They were shot because the Black hand group were Serbians and thought that the territory should belong to Serbia. Austria blamed Serbia and declared was on them. -
first tank
On this day in 1915, a prototype tank nicknamed Little Willie rolls off the assembly line in England. Little Willie was far from an overnight success. It weighed 14 tons, got stuck in trenches and crawled over rough terrain at only two miles per hour. However, improvements were made to the original prototype and tanks eventually transformed military battlefields. -
Lusitania Sinks
May 7, 1915 the British ocean lusitania was attacked by a german submarine off the coast of ireland. It sank into the celtic sea all th 1,959 passengers and all the crew members died by drowning with a 128 americans. That was when the britain entered the battle. -

Germany made an offer for mexico but they declined it the offer but the outrage of western hemisphere pushed the public opinion which the can support the war. Arthur Zimmermann a German foreign secretary that was having a really bad day at work on january 1917 he sent a telegram to the opposite thing which he wasn’t supposed to do. -

Armistice Day aka Veterans Day
On November 11th in 1919 on the 11th hour, the Treaty of Versailles was signed to end the WWI. A year later, Woodrow Wilson declared that November 11th would be a day to remember what happened and became a memorial day. I was celebrated at 11 a.m. years later with parades and with communities coming together. Armistice Day turned into a national holiday known as Veterans Day in 1938 to celebrate all military personnel who fought in any wars. -
