-This battle was fought between Russia and Germany on August 29-30 of 1914 also it was the first month of World War 1.
-This battle resulted in almost complete destruction for the Russian second army and the suicide of their commanding general, Alexander Samsonov
-Germany did win the war over Russia. -
First battle of Marne
First Battle of the Marne, an offensive during World War I by the French army and the British Expeditionary Force against the advancing Germans who had invaded Belgium and northeastern France and were within 30 miles of Paris. -
Poison Gas
On April 22, 1915 the German forces shock allied soldiers along the western front by firing more than 150 tons of lethal chlorine gas.
Over 100,000 plus soldiers died to the poison gas the germans had during the war. -
Lusitania
-A German U- boat torpedoed the British owned steamship Lusitania, killing over 1,000 plus people including 128 Americans, on May 7, 1915.
-The disaster set off a chain of events that led the USA entering the WW1. -

Feb 21-Dec 18, 1916 is the dates when the battle began and ended.
Over 300,000 - 400,000 men were killed and most were germans.
Germany believed that they were gonna win the battle but in the end france.
The battle of verdun was the longest and largest battle of WW1.

In January 1917, the british find out that germany was using the zimmerman telegram to tell mexico that they will help them get their land back from the USA if they help them out in the war. -
