The Assassination
World War 1 would start due to the Assassination of the Austria-Estes's Archduke. This archduke was Franz Ferdinand, and was also a Royal Prince. his death sparked the beginning of WW1. -
The First Trench is Built!
The first trench was built by German troops. Eventually stretched from the North Sea coast of Belgium southward through France This would then carry on to other forces. This war was well known for the making of trench warfare. -
First Chemical Warfare
German troops shoots shells filled with chlorine gas at Allied forces. This was when chemical warfare was introduced. The German forces however, are unable to breach the French lines, due to the gas. -
The Battle of Verdun
This would be a battle fought in WW1. Both sides lost heavy amounts of soldiers. This was a well fought battle. -
Tanks are Born!
This was when the first tanks were produced AND deployed into war. British made the first tanks nicknamed "Little Willie" and were very underwhelming. They had multiple issues with the tanks, some were overheating in the engine, were too slow, and couldn't get pass trenches. -
U.S. Joins the War
The U.S. declared war on Germany, officially making them part of WW1. They joined the side of Britain & France. This made them the Allied forces. -
Battle of Cantigny
This was the first major offensive battle for the Americans during WW1. The soldiers had fought hard. But, would soon go against larger German forces. -
Battle of Belleau Wood
This was the battle were U.S Marines would have heavy casualties. They ran towards German forces in an open field. This would be cause 10,000 American casualties. -
Battle of the Somme
This wold be the last battle of the war. This would ALSO be the bloodiest battle. This would have the most casualties of ALL battles. -
The Treaty to End all Wars
The Armistices would be signed, ending WW1. This would told to be that this war would end all wars. But, it didn't.
