    The assassination of Ferdinand was taken place in Austria. The person who killed him was Gavrilo Princip. Also, his wife was shot and killed. It sparked a chain of events that led an outburst of world war 1.
  • World war 1 begins

    World war 1 begins
    On June 28, 1914, the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand and his wife sparked events that caused WW1 to happen. The war lasted from 1914-1918 and was between central powers which were Germany, Austria-Hungary, and Bulgaria going against the allied powers which were the U.S, Russia, France, Britain. Italy, Romania, and Japan. During WW1 there were many tragic events that caused a lot of people to lose their lives due to war and violence.

    The battle of Gallipoli took place on February 1, 1915. It was a Campaign for World war 1 that took place on the Gallipoli Peninsula. It involved British and French Ships on Dardanelle Straits invading the Gallipoli Peninsula. Even though the Entente Navy powers attack were unsuccessful, it led to New Zealand getting involved in the campaign. The battle resulted in the Ottoman Victory.

    On May 7, 1915, the RMS Lusitania sinks. Germany waged submarine warfare against the UK. The location of this was on the Celtic sea The UK planned a naval blockade on Germany and had an all-out war against each other. The ship was torpedoed by a German u-boat and the ship sank within 18 minutes. It killed 1,198 out of 1,959 leaving 761 people alive.

    The battle of Verdun took place on February 21, 1916, to December 18, 1916. It was the longest battle between the French and the Germans. The location it took place was on Verdun-Sur-Meuse in the north-eastern part of France. This resulted in about 143,000 deaths for the Germans and 162,440 for the French and with the French winning the battle.

    Battle Of Somme (One of the bloodiest battles in military history)
    The battle of Somme or known as the Somme Offense was fought by the British Empire and the French Third Republic against the German Empire. It took place on both sides of River Somme. It started on July 1, 1916, through November 18, 1916. This was also the battle that weakened the German Army and forced them to retreat causing the Allies to push them back. The result of the battle was about 420,000 casualties. The French lost about 200,000 men and the Germans lost 500,000.
  • Zimmerman note

    Zimmerman note
    In January 1917, the Zimmerman note was sent by German Foreign Minister, Arthur Zimmerman. He sent the message to his ambassador in Mexico. His goal was to make Mexico join forces with Germany but Mexico declined any types of involvement with Germany and this led to the U.S joining the War. Germany promised Mexico that they would get their land back from the U.S if they joined. The lands were Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona.

    The Russian revolution was a bunch of revolutions that took place in Russia during March 8, 1917 - November 7, 1917. It tore apart the Tsarist Autocracy and led to the rise of the Soviet Union. The combatants were the Russian Empire and the Russian provisional government. The goals of the Russian revolution was withering of the state, world revolution, wars of national liberation, constitutionalism, and Irredentism. About 9 million people were killed in the Russian revolution.

    On April 6, 1917, the votes were 82 to 6 from the Senate to declare war against Germany and The U.S house of representatives signs the decision 373 to 50 to enter WW1. They joined their allies Britain, France, and Russia to fight against Germany.
  • Russia withdraws from war

    Russia withdraws from war
    The treaty of Brest-Litovsk was signed on March 3, 1918. The treaty was signed between the new government of Russia and the Central Powers. Also, this was signed after the bloody civil war between the Bolsheviks and the conservative white Guard in 1917. Signing the peace treaty immediately pulled Russia out of World War 1.

    The battle of Chateau-Thierry took place on May 31, 1918. It also had General John J. or known as "Black Jack" perishing during the battle. The first offensive happened on July 18, 1918, and took place in France. It resulted in the Allies winning.

    The Meuse-Argonne Offensive started on September 29, 1918. It lasted 47 days ending on November 11, 1918. It stretched along the whole western front. The U.S had about 1 million troops able to fight. It was the greatest battle by far in World War 1.

    An agreement was made on November 11, 1918. The agreement was made to stop fighting on land, sea, and air. The armistice was between the Allies and Germany. The location signed was at Le France port near Compiègne. This Armistice was only for that but it was not to end the war though.

    On June 28, 1919, a very important treaty was signed. This treaty was called the Treaty of Versailles and it was the peace treaty that ended World War 1. The Location signed was in Paris, France. This treaty was signed to stop the war and have peace between the German and the Allies.
  • First meeting of the League of Nations

    First meeting of the League of Nations
    The first meeting goes to the League of Nations that happened on January 16. 1920. The meeting took place in Paris. It happened six days after the Versailles treaty. The League moved from London to Geneva on November 1, 1920 and the first general meeting took place on November 15, 1920.
