    Austrian Archduke Franz Ferdinand is assassinated. He is assassinated by a group of Serbian nationalists. This is the main cause that sparked WW1.
  • Udet Attempts Joining The Army

    Udet Attempts Joining The Army
    He tried to join the German Army on August 2 but couldn't join because he did not meet the height requirements. After that he applied for the Allgemeiner Deutscher automobile club with his four friends and was accepted later in August. After getting in an accident on his motorcycle, once he recovered, he had a meeting with officers from Chauny flying sector and was sent back to the recruiting officials.

In early 1916 once the Air Staff Officer heard about this, he was transferred to fighter command.

    The Battle of Verdun was the longest battle of WW1. It was also known to be one of the bloodiest. This battle was fought between Germany and France when Germany made a plan to make a massive attack on the city Verdun.

    Germany tries to persuade Mexico into joining the war so they sent "The Zimmerman Telegram" over. Then the British learn about this plan and try to interfere by trying to stop it. They learned about what was happening when they indentified the coded message Germany had sent to Mexico.

After the czar was overthrown the Bolsheviks successfully took over the new Russian government.

    The armistice that was approved between the new Russian government and the central powers is put into effect. A day after the new Russian government is formed a ceasefire is declared throughout the battle zone between Russia and the Central Powers. Russia's new leader Vladimir Lenin, had planned to arrange an armistice with the Central Powers and said they were going to drop out of a war they saw as a big problem to their plan to provide food and land for the lower-class of Russians.

    At the age of 22 he was the highest scoring flying ace that had survived in the war. He accomplished 62 victories throughout WW1 and the only person to beat him on that was his commander in the Flying Circus, Manfred von Richthofen. Ernst had rose to become a squadron commander under Manfred and then Hermann Goring.

    This treaty had brought an end to the war between Russia and Germany. Vladimir Lenin ordered to get a quick treaty from the Germans so they could stop the war because he needed to focus on rebuilding Russia into a strong nation again. Under the terms of the treaty Russia lost Riga, Lithuania, Livonia, Estonia, and some of White Russia. This treaty also allowed the Germans to utilize these lands to gain support for military effort in the west.

    The Germans began this war as their final offensive push of World War 1. The Allies were the ones who came out with the victory in this battle. The Second Battle of the Marne lasted from July 15-August 5.

    Ernst was wounded in the thigh towards the end of WW1 and it caused him to have to end his fight in the war. He was still recovering from this injury on Armistice Day when the war ended. After the war he was mainly known for his work as a stunt pilot in movies and air shows. He was also a part of the National Socialists Party when he joined in 1933 and he helped Germany in their fight during World War 2.

    Germany signs the armistice that ends all fighting on the 11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11th month. The name for Armistice Day comes from this armistice that was signed. Today this holiday is known as Veterans Day to honor all veterans who serve/had served in previous wars and in the military, not just the veterans who served in World War 1.

According to many people it is said to believed that the conditions of treaty turned out to be really weak so that lead to the rise of the Nazi's in Germany and the outbreak of World War 2.
