    Petroglyphs

    Petroglyphs were picture carvings carved into rock walls used by homo sapiens. These were the first signs of information or stories being told by humans.

    Cuneiform is created

    Cuneiform was the first written word created by the Sumerians within Mesopotamia. Cuneiform is created by using a tool or stylus made out of reed to push wedge shapes into a soft clay tablet to form shapes called pictographs. These clay tablets were then put in the sun to dry.

    Egyptians Hieroglyphics

    Egyptians used pictures to represent their language. These were hand drawn and were considered a sacred language. The script was forgotten about around 400 CE and rediscovered in the 1820s by Jean-Francois Champillion

    The Gilgamesh Epic was written

    The Gilgamish Epic was a story about a leader Gilgamesh written in cuneiform by the Sumerians and was a way to have a story kept forever.

    The Library of Ashurbanipal

    This library was named after King Ashurbanipal and was made up of many clay tablets. This is where the Gilgamish Epic was discovered but unfortunately, most of the other tablets were too damaged to make sense of.

    Acta Diurna' is the first newspaper published

    Acta Diurna' was the first ever newspaper and it was published in Rome.
  • The first weekly newspaper is published

    The first printed weekly newspaper to be published in Antwerp was called Relation. This was in the Roman area and allowed people to catch up on the weekly news now.
  • Rosetta Stone is discovered

    The Rosetta Stone was key for scientists and historians to be able to understand and translate Egyptian Hieroglyphics
  • The UPS is created

    The United Parcel Service was created in 1907 and allowed people to send packages and letters to others to spread information and contact each other
  • The electronic television is invented

    Electronic television has allowed people to have access to news stations each night to get their nightly updates throughout the country
  • The New York Times is founded

    The New York Times, now a fantastic magazine, was founded in 1951 and really helped the spread of information within the United States
  • Internet is created

    The internet, known then as ARPANET, or the Advanced Research Projects Agency Network. Originally funded by the U.S. Department of Defense. It allowed multiple computers to communicate under a single system.
  • Flat screen TV

    The flat screen tv was invented in 1964 and allowed TVs to fit in smaller spaces as well as having better quality.
  • United States Postal Service

    The postal service was created in 1971 and allowed people to send letters to people all around the United States
  • Email is created

    Email was created and allowed people to send letters of sorts to people via computers. It allowed for quick information sharing and quick responses without having to wait for mail services to deliver the message.
  • The World Wide Web is created

    Tim Berners-Lee, a British scientist, invented the World Wide Web, or as we know it now as the starting www of a website. It was originally created to allow scientists to communicate from university to university.

    The first Apple laptop invented was innovative. It allowed people to take computers on the go and have access to the internet wherever there was wifi
  • The first Wifi prototype

    The first wifi prototype allowed people to access the internet wherever there was the wifi.
  • Google is created

    Now the modern-day web browser, Google was created in 1998 and has revolutionized the internet. It has allowed anyone with access to the internet to search for anything and have access to seemingly unlimited resources.
  • The first tablet

    The first tablet was created in 2001 and gave a portable smaller version of a computer without a keyboard and a touch screen
  • The first iPhone

    The first iPhone was made in 2007. It basically gave people the capabilities of a computer on the go. It was small and was truly like nothing we had never seen.
