They attempted to make one of their own, but did not succed. Orville, later on in years said that they toy from his childhood sparked their intrest in flight.

The Wright Brother's manned, heavier-than-air machine, left the ground by its own power. It was the first plane to ever fly successfully. The time that is stayed up was about 12 seconds. It was named the Wright Flyer, nick named "Flyer I." It was located in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina.
