FDR Elected
President Franklin D. Roosevelt is elected president of the United States. He will serve four terms but not finish his last. Hindenburg is also eected in Germany in 1932. Franklin would go on to begin the New Deal programs and would lead the US to victory in the war. -
Dachau
Dachau was the first concentration camp started by the Nazis in Germany. Many more would also eventually be made. They where built to hold and exterminate European Jews and enemys of Nazis Concentration camps would be used to murder 6 milllion jewish people. -
Japan Invades China
Japan invades China to secure resources and to etablish itself as a world power so it can compete with the Soviets, US, and Europe. It begins to enforce its laws over the conquered Chinese territory, taking resources. This begins the war in the Pacific. -
Anschluss
Austria is annexed by Germany. Germany is not supposed to do any sort of political things under the Treaty of Versailles. Their reason is that they speak German and are culturally German. Austria was allied with germany in WW1 so they are old allies, the Jewish people in Austria where sent to concentration camps -

Germany annexes Czechslovakia
Germany annexes the rest of Czechslovakia and Great Britain pledges to support Poland in case of an invasion by Germany. Germany then begins to move all the Czech Jews to concentration camps. -
Poland Invaded
Poland is invaded by Germany and the aid given to Poland by Britain and France, who they made pacts with, is very limited and two days after this Britain declares war on Germany. This Begins the War in Europe. -
Atomic Bomb Becomes Possible
Albert Einstien informs Preseident Franklin D. Roosevelt that they have reached a point where it would be possible to make an atomic bomb, a weappon that would be capable of destroying large cities. -
Air Raids Begin
Germany begins to bomb and attack British Cities via the air in airplanes. Great Britain begins to build bomb bunkers and Strenghtens its Air Force. -
Germany Invades
Nazis invade France, Belgium, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands. Many countries are under british control and France is controlled by officials loyal to Hitler. Jews are sent to ghettos and camps and France can no longer fight against he Axis powers. -
Paris Invaded
Germany Invades paris and takes control over France. The leaders of France are in exile and German-appointed officials who support the Nazi cause are selected to run the country. -
Pearl Harbor
Japanese aerial fleet bomb Pearl Harbor, a military base in Hawaii that housed many american battleships and several where destroyed. this attack led to the US declaring war on the Japanese Empire. -
War has Started
In Europe Germany and Italy declare war on America and the war in both Europe and asia has began. The war wont end for four more years until 1945. -
Internment Camps
Japanese on the West Coast of the US are moved to internment camps due to suspicion about remaining loyalties to Japan, even though many had no lyaltyto japan and many of those put in internment camps where not japanes but where sent because they where of Asian descent. -
Battle of Coral Sea
The Japanese and Allied Australian-American troops fight the japanese in an air and naval battle which is on of the most important battled in ww2 in the pacific theater. The Japanese won a tactical battle by destroying many ships, but the US destroyed many of the major Japanese ship which could no longer fight. -
Italy Surrenders
The allied people had been fighting to control Sicily and the Italian forces sign an armistice to stop the fighting. Italy's King Emmanuel dismisses Mussolini and he attempts to escape but is later killed. -
D-Day
Allied troops begin a siege against the German-controlled French beachside and attempt to liberat France by gaining control of French towns and cities. There where heavy casualties as the Allies attempted to break the German defense on the cliffs above the beach. There where 10,000 American casualties and 8,000 german casualties. -
France Liberated
The Allies had been fighting back the germans in Normandy and in southern France. they make it to paris where the Germans flee and surrender France back. France now joins the Allies again in fighting against the Axis powers -
FDR Dies
President Franklin Roosevelt dies in office. Vice president Harry S. Truman becomes president and leads the US to the end of the war. He was the president who decided to use the Atomic Bombs against Nagasaki and Hiroshima in Japan. -
Atomic Bomb Drop Causes Surrender
On August 4, the US plane Enola Gay flies across the Pacific to Hiroshima, Japan and Drops an newly-made Atomic bomb on the city, where approximately 166,000 Japanese where killed due to the massive explosion. Four days later a bomb was dropped on Nagasaki, killing 80,000, and Japan surrenders to the allies on August 15, ending the war. -
Germany Surrenders
Germany officially surrenders to the Allied armies on May 8th. Germany's leader during the war, Adolf Hitler, had commited suicide during the Battle of Berlin. his Succesor, Karl Dönitz, was the leader who negotiated the terms for peace in Germany. this day became known as V-E Day. Victory in Europe Day.
