    The Triple Alliance was Made and Joined Germany, Austria-Hungary and Germany
    The countries of Germany, Austria-Hungary and Italy allied with eachother to ensure each individual country's safety and security. This is an important event leading up to World War One because this alliance was part of what made this infamous war a "world" war.

    Alliance is Made between Germany and Russia
    The Triple Alliance soon fell apart. Germany and Russia soon established The Reinsurance Treaty. This treaty was basically an attempt made by Otto van Bismark to ally with Russia after the Triple Alliance broke down. This act made by Germany shows us the true nature of the country during the late 1800s. Simply allying with other contries just to feed its own power. As this tangled web of alliances grow, World War One will soon errupt.

    Wilhelm because he was unwilling to share his power with anyone; forced Bismark to resign. Wilhelm changed the foreign policy dramatically and he dropped his country's treaty with Russia made under Otto van Bismark. This eventually leads to Russia disliking Germany which may lead to conflict. Also, this may show that Germany is an unreliable alliance.

    The alliance between France and Russia, although made in August 17, 1892, did not become final until January 4, 1894. The Triple Alliance had left Russia vulnerable, so it soon joined together with France. This begins the formation of the Triple Entente, which played a crucial role in World War One.

    After France, Britian and Russia signed the Franco-Anglo-Russian-Entente in 1907, their alliance was called the Triple Entente. They were very powerful and made a strong opponent against the Triple Alliance. These two groups forming instigates the ignation of World War One.

    On June 28, 1914 Franz Ferdinand, Archduke of Austria and his wife; Sophie were shot to death by Gavrilo Princip. They were visiting Sarajevo, Serbia. Many Serbians, who valued the 28th as a very important, nationalistic holiday were offeneded by this visit. In their eyes, the royal Austrians were mocking and insulting them. This lead to rage from the Serbians resulting in Franz Ferdinand and his wife's deaths. This officially began and caused World War One because Austria was infuriated!

    After the murder of Franz Ferdinand and his wife, Austria sent Serbia a long list of demands (called and ultimatum). Serbia, because they were avoiding war; answers all but one of these requests. This one little unfulfilled demand prompted Austria to do what is does next.

    The assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria took place in Sarajevo, the capital of the Austro-Hungarian province of Bosnia and Herzegovina. This provoked Austria declaring war on Bosnia. This declaration of waging war officially started World War One.

    When Russia heard that Austria had declared war on Bosnia, they began an advance of the Russian-German and Russian-Austrian borders. This was the last straw and Germany declared war on Russia. Two days later, Germany also declares war on France, primarily because Russia and France were at that time allies.

    Since its allies were fighting against Germany; a coutnry who seemed to cause much chaos, Britian decided to help its brothers take down Germany. At this time, a great majority of Europe was involved in this massive conflict; later to be called World War One.

    Near the end of August, after the Russians invaded Germany, the Germans counterattacked the Russians at Tannenberg in Eastern Prussia. This battle lasted four days in which the Germans pushed the offensive Russian army into full retreat. This notorious battle caused a lot of damage and over 30,000 Russian soldiers were killed.

    This First Battle of the Marne was a major clash on the Western Front, and one of the most significant battles in World War One. The allies attacked the Germans near PAris, which ruined the German's Schliefflen plan which soughted to prevent fighting on two fronts. This enabled the Allies to be victorious and to defeat Germany.

    Up to this point, the Central Powers had included Germany and Austria-Hungary. This all changed on October 28, 1914, when Bulgaria and the Ottoman Empire decided to join the Central Powers. These countries joined because they wanted to get back their land. Now, two more countries were then involved in this soon to be world war.

    The Gallipoli Campaign took place at the peninsula of Gallipoli in the Ottoman Empire. Britian and France worked together to take over the capital; Constantinople and establish a sea route to Russia. It was'nt a success, and the battle between the Russian/French army and the Turks caused many deaths.

    Italy left the Triple Alliance and joined the Triple Entente with France, Britian and Russia. Itlay left its former allies because they thought it was unjust and not right for Austria-Hungary to declare war on Serbia.

    At this time, Germany had made a naval blockade enclosing Britina. Germany sank a British ship called "The Luisitania" through the use of unrestricted submarine warfare. This killed 1,198 people including 128 Americans. This enraged the British but it also angered the U.S. because the sinking of the ship had caused the deaths of 128 U.S. citizens. This tragedy ignited America's involvement in the war; making this dispute a "world" conflict.

    This battle was fought between the German and the French armies. This battle lasted from Febuary to December. It resulted in 698,000 deaths as it was the longest and one of the most horrifying battles fought in World War One. The French were victorious.

    In January, Germany announced to the world their policy of unrestricted submarine warfare. Unrestricted submarine warfare is when submarines sink merchant ships without warning. This angered America, and because of the sinking of the U.S.S. Luisitanna got them involved in World War One.

    The Zimmerman Telegram was a proposal from Germany to Mexico to declare war against the Unites States. The British decodedthe telegram. When the U.S. found out about the telegram; there was much public outrage. This contributed to World War One because the intercetion of the Zimmerman note caused the U.S. to battle with Germany.

    After he had had enough of Germany, President Woodrow Wison, of the United States of America, asked Congress for permission to declare war on them. This started the U.S.'s involvement in World War One.

    Vladimir Ilyrich Lenin, the leader of Russia, pulled Russia out of the war. Russia had been drastically weakened finanacially and econimically by World War One; war had risen among the people of Russia. This was very bad for the triple entente. Also, this marks the beginning of the end of World War One.

    This treaty was a peace treaty signed on March 3, 1918 at Bret-Litovsk between Russia and the Central Powers indicating that Russia would be leaving World War One. Thus, the treaty confirmed and allowed Russia to step down from fighting. This is important because it weakened the Triple Entente.

    The Second Battle of the Marne turned into a significant allied victory. It took place during the summer of 1918. The result was that Germany lost to the French, the British and the United States. It is estimated that the German army suffered 168,000 casualties. This battle was important because Germany was really brought on its knees and it also marked the last attempt made by the Central Powers to win World War One.

    Kaiser Wilhelm II, the well-known, destructive leader of Germany was forced to step down from being king, and Germany then declared themselves a repulic. This helped to wind down the war as Germany would probably no longer go on wild rampages.
